What is said by Health Ministry

A total of 42 requests regarding the dispatch of medicines to Cypriots abroad have been met, a press release issued by the Ministry of Health says.

The medicines were sent via post to 13 countries and more specifically to Australia, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, the UK, Thailand, Poland, Romania, Latvia, South Africa, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates and the US.

According to the press release, from March 24 to April 7 a total of 44 requests were submitted out of which 42 have been met. Further information is expected by the people who made the other two requests.

Arrangements have been made for medicines which require special conditions of storage to be provided locally.

According to the press release, following a decision taken by the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs and in the framework of the extraordinary measures decided by the government to address the spread of SARS-CoV=2 and specifically the prohibition of flights towards Cyprus since March 21, 2020, a number of Cypriot citizens remain abroad.

Due to the fact that plenty of them are taking medicines from Cyprus,  the two Ministries decided to make the necessary arrangements so that they are sent to them from Cyprus.

The dispatch of medicines concerns also Cypriots living abroad and face difficulties in getting their medicines.
