Cyprus authorities report four new Covid-19 cases

The total number of cases reached 1,084

Cyprus health authorities announced four new of coronavirus infections on Thursday after 1,789 tests, bringing the total tally of persons that contracted the virus to 1,084.
 
Today’s announcement came after yesterday’s 13 new cases which were the highest number in the last three months.
 
According to the Ministry of Health, three cases were diagnosed as part of 714 tests carried out after a private initiative. All three persons had symptoms with two of them located in Limassol.
 
The fourth case was diagnosed as part of 268 tests carried out in the programme of screening of 10,000 employees of businesses which resumed operations in the second and third phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions. It was a person working as a cleaner in a hotel unit with no symptoms.
 
Furthermore, there were no positive results after 74 tests carried out as part of the program of referrals from personal doctors and special groups screening through the public health centres and 162 tests of contact tracing.
 
An additional 465 samples were taken from passengers and repatriates, 4 tests in the programme for testing among residents of Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias and 102 tests were carried out by the General Hospitals` Microbiology Labs with no positive results.
 
According to the Ministry, five persons were admitted to the Famagusta General Hospital, designated as Reference Hospital for Covid-19 one of whom in the Increased Care Unit. An additional person is hospitalised in the Nicosia General Hospital and may be transferred to the Famagusta Hospital tomorrow.
