Cyprus FM holds talks with his Israeli counterpart in Tel Aviv

Cyprus Foreign Minister, Nikos Christodoulides flies to Tel Aviv, Israel

Cyprus Foreign Minister, Nikos Christodoulides flies today to Tel Aviv, Israel, for a working visit during which he will hold talks with his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi, at the latter`s invitation.

A Foreign Ministry press release said that during their tete-a-tete meeting, as well as in the framework of extended consultations, the two Ministers are expected to review Cyprus-Israeli relations and discuss trilateral cooperation with Greece and ways to develop and expand it. They will also exchange views on regional issues, with emphasis on the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, the press release noted.

Due to the general situation concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and the protection measures taken, the meeting will take place at Ben Gurion airport of Tel Aviv. After the meeting Christodoulides will return to Cyprus.
 
Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades was going to pay a visit to Israel today, accompanied by Ministers of his government. However, he and the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu agreed during a telephone conversation they had to postpone the visit, in view of developments regarding the coronavirus pandemic, and to reschedule it as soon as conditions allow this.
