Cyprus is not alone towards Turkey’s provocative actions

“European Union, International Law and Greece are on Cyprus’ side. Cyprus is not alone”, Greek Alternate FM says

Greek Alternate Foreign Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou said that Greece is completely vigilant towards Turkish illegal actions in the Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), and stressed that the Republic of Cyprus is not alone before this provocative stance displayed by Turkey.

In an interview on the Greek radio station “News 24/7”, Alternate FM underlined that Greece remains in close cooperation with the Republic of Cyprus, while the European Union strongly denounces Turkish violations in the Cyprus’ ΕΕΖ, as it did in the case of the recent European Council held in Sibiu.

“European Union, International Law and Greece are on Cyprus’ side. Cyprus is not alone”, Anagnostopoulou said, while stressing that “the situation is totally under control”.

Commenting on Turkish illegal actions, Greek Alternate Foreign Minister expressed the view that over the last years Turkey displays a revisionist stance, which creates tension in the region.

Anagnostopoulou reiterated that Greece is continuing to support Turkey’s European perspective, which will contribute “both to the internal democratization of Turkey and to the stability in the region”, as she said.
