The AEO status is a certified standard authorisation, which was introduced by the European Union in 2008, to ensure a simpler and faster execution of formal customs procedures, a faster delivery of goods as well as improve security on the external borders of the Union. The status is issued to any economic operator who fulfils certain strict criteria including customs compliance, sound safety and security practices, appropriate record-keeping standards and financial solvency.

After more than four years of successful operations at the Limassol port, DP World Limassol has been recognised as a reliable and safe business partner of the regional and international supply chains. Specifically, following a thorough inspection of its internal systems and processes, the Company was awarded the AEO status, which comes with an array of benefits including increased international credibility, quicker customs clearance, fewer physical and document checks as well as fewer security and safety-related controls. It should also be noted that the Company also benefits from the Mutual Recognition of AEO programmes between the EU and third countries.

In statements DP World Limassol’s CEO, Mr Nawaf Abdulla, said: “We are delighted to be one of 26 companies in Cyprus to hold this prestigious status and we are confident that it will significantly improve our reputation as well as the efficiency and transparency of our operations. This accreditation does not only serve as a quality mark for our services and procedures; it also significantly accelerates and simplifies customs clearance. As such, it offers real, added value to our customers and partners, making our Terminal even more competitive and attractive for any client active in the Eastern Mediterranean and abroad.”

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Customs Department for the accreditation, as well as for the excellent cooperation throughout the evaluation. A great thanks is also due to the DP World Limassol team who worked tirelessly for this certificate over the past 12 months”, Mr Abdulla added.
