Authorities in Cyprus announced on Sunday (7/6) four new confirmed coronavirus cases. Three of them concern people who have been repatriated, while the other one was detected in the framework of the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases. The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 964.
A press release issued by the Health Ministry said that from a total of 2.364 tests four new cases of SARS-CoV-2 have been confirmed.
More specifically, from a total of 518 samples of people who have been repatriated, three cases have been detected. It is noted that their close contacts have been traced and all relevant protocols have been activated so that they remain in self-isolation until tests are carried out.
From a total of 79 samples tested in the framework of the process of tracing the contacts of already confirmed caes one case was confirmed.
Moreover 771 tests were carried out in the framework of the programme for testing 10,000 employees at hair salons, barber shops, beauty parlors, tattoo studios and restaurants without detecting any positive cases.
No positive cases were also detected from 632 tests carried out in the framework of the programme for testing 20,000 pupils and school employees, one test carried out in the framework of the programme for testing 20,000 employees in the retail sector and at construction sites, 116 tests carried out by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals, 60 tests conducted at the private initiative and 187 samples tested in the framework of the programme for people who are tested after being referred by their Personal Doctors and for special groups tested through the Public Health Centres.
Three patients were treated by Sunday afternoon at Famagusta General Hospital, which is the COVID-19 Reference Hospital Moreover, two patients, one on them on a ventilator, were treated at Nicosia General Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
