House of Representatives President Demetris Syllouris has said that the outcome from an official visit to Australia last week, has “exceeded expectations.”
Syllouris is expected to have a meeting on Monday with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades during which he will also brief him about his visit in Australia, parliamentary sources have said.
The Speaker, headed an interparliamentary delegation’s official visit in Australia following an invitation by Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Tony Smith and President of the Senate Scott Ryan.
The parliamentary delegation was comprised by MPs Nicos Tornaritis, Andreas Fakontis, Zacharias Koulias, Elias Myrianthous, Linos Papayiannis, Annita Demetriou, Costas Costa and Marinos Moushoutas.
Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Cyprus) President Michalis Michael was also part of the delegation.
Syllouris said that meetings took place at both federal and state level, adding that the Cypriot delegation also met with Cypriots and Greeks living in Australia in all three states it visited and that specific goals to be implemented were set.
