No new confirmed coronavirus cases in Cyprus

The total number of cases remains at 985

No new confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases were reported in Cyprus on Saturday, after conducting 808 laboratory tests, authorities announced. The total number of cases remains at 985.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Health said that according to the Ministry`s Epidemiological Monitoring Unit no one tested positive after tests carried out for 192 passengers and people who have been repatriated, 179 tests conducted at the private initiative, 101 laboratory tests conducted in the framework of the programe for testing 20,000 students and school staff, and one test carried out in the farmework of the programme for testing 10,000 employees in hairdressing salons, barbershops, beauty parlours, tattoo studios and restaurants.

Moreover, no positive cases were detected after testing 149 samples in the framework of the testing programme for 10,000 employees in businesses which resumed operations during the second and the third phase of easing restrictive measures, 16 samples taken in the context of tracing the cotacts of confirmed cases, 45 samples at the General Hospitals Microbiology Labs and 125 samples from referrals by personal doctors and special groups screened through the public health centres.

Until this afternoon one patient was treated at Famagusta General Hospital, which is the Reference Hospital for COVID-19 patients.

Meanwhile, according to data released on Saturday by the Ministry of Health 26 deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded until June 18, 19 of which with COVID-19 as the underlying cause of death. A total of 824 patients recovered (85.9%) while 32 were treated in Intensive Care Units. A total of 16,514.3 tests were carried out per 100,000 population.
