Pancyprian Voluntary Blood Donation by the Hellenic Bank staff

For yet another year, members of the Hellenic Bank staff made their most important "break" offering blood on the occasion of the World Blood Donation Day - Blood Donor Volunteer.

Hellenic Bank, in its Corporate Social Responsibility framework, carried out the 5th Pancyprian Voluntary Blood Donation for its staff, in collaboration with the Blood Center of the Ministry of Health, taking all necessary measures and strictly following the protocol of the Ministry of Health.

Contributing to this great cause, the Hellenic Bank Volunteers’ team and the bank’s staff responded to the call and with a sense of social responsibility donated their most valuable gift hoping to support the Blood Center.

At a time when blood supplies are extremely low and blood transfusions are in danger of being postponed, blood donation is more crucial than ever.

The attendance of the staff in the blood donations was essential, both in Hellenic Bank premises and Blood Donations Stations in all districts, promoting the value of blood donations.

The slogan of this year's campaign of the World Health Organization (WHO) is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives” to draw attention to the roles that voluntary blood donations play in saving lives and enhancing solidarity within communities.

Some of the goals of this year's campaign are to create wider public awareness of the need for regular, unpaid blood donation; to highlight the need for committed, year-round blood donation, to maintain adequate supplies and achieve universal and timely access to safe blood transfusion to our fellow human beings who are in need.

Mr. George Christodoulides, Head Human Resources of Hellenic Bank, stated "We would like to especially thank the Blood Donation Team of Hellenic Bank and its offer in this event. We are proud of this initiative, as it shows the responsibility, we have to help our fellow human beings in any way we can."
