Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has said that he will outline to EU heads of state the violation of international law on the part of Turkey within Cyprus` Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
President Anastasiades was replying to a question upon his departure from the Presidential Palace today about whether he feels he will achieve his goals regarding the matter.

"My goal is to outline to the 27 member states` leaders the whole situation, that is to say the violation by Turkey of international law," he pointed out.

Anastasiades, will participate in an informal European Council which takes place tomorrow in Romania, where he will raise the issue of Turkey`s recent unlawful actions in Cyprus` Exclusive Economic Zone, following Nicosia`s continuous strong protests to the EU institutions and member states.
Turkish authorities issued on Friday May 3, 2019 a Navtex advising that the drillship Fatih would be carrying out drilling operations in an area west of Paphos from May 3 to September 3.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory.
