Two COVID-19 cases confirmed in Cyprus on Tuesday

Two COVID-19 cases out of 2,214 tests

Two more people were found positive to COVID-19 in Cyprus, after conducting 2,214 laboratory tests, authorities announced on Tuesday. The total number of cases in Cyprus since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 939. Both cases were detected after conducting 125 tests following referrals from personal doctors and in the framework of the program checking special groups of people at Public Health Medical Centres.
 
According to a written announcement by the Ministry of Health, the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health also announced that no one tested positive out of 652 tests carried out in the framework of the program for checking 10,000 employees at hairdressers, barber shops, beauty parlours, tattoo studios and restaurants, from 390 tests in the framework of the program for checking 20,000 pupils and school staff, from 122 tests carried out in the framework of the program for checking 20,000 employees at the retail sector and construction sites, from a total of 62 tests for people who came in contact with already confirmed cases, from 285 tests carried out by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals, from 334 tests from people repatriated to Cyprus and from 244 tests carried out at a private initiative.
 
On the basis of the data until 15.00 (local time), six people are inpatients at Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as the reference hospital for COVID-19. One is being treated at the Increased Care Unit of the hospital. Three patients remain intubated in the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital.
