Employment in the Government in January 2022 increased by 518 people (1.0%) compared to the corresponding month of 2021 and reached 53,382 people. The permanent staff is reduced by 656 people (-2.4%), from 26,834 to 26,178 people. The number of temporary staff increased by 1,242 people (7.0%) reaching 18,937 compared to 17,695 people in January 2021.

Compared to January 2021, there is an increase in all categories of staff, Public Service (0.3%), Education Service (2.2%) and Security Forces (1.7%). There is a decrease in the permanent staff in all three categories, with the largest being presented to the staff of the Public Service (-3.1%). On the contrary, there is an increase in the temporary staff in all three categories with the staff of the Educational Service presenting the largest (9.1%). The hourly wage is reduced (-0.8%) compared to January 2021.

Compared to December 2021, there is an increase in the staff of the Public Service (0.1%), in the staff of the Educational Service (1.2%) and in the staff of the Security Forces (0.4%). There is a decrease in the permanent staff in all three categories, with the largest being presented to the staff of the Public Service (-0.3%). On the contrary, there is an increase in the temporary staff in all three categories with the staff of the Educational Service presenting the largest (3.3%). The hourly wage staff is observed to increase (1.0%) compared to December 2021.

Στη Δημόσια Υπηρεσία περιλαμβάνονται οι μόνιμοι και έκτακτοι υπάλληλοι των Υπουργείων, Τμημάτων και Υπηρεσιών. Στην Εκπαιδευτική Υπηρεσία περιλαμβάνεται το μόνιμο και έκτακτο εκπαιδευτικό προσωπικό που υπηρετεί στις σχολικές μονάδες καθώς και το προσωπικό του Κέντρου Παραγωγικότητας και του Ανώτερου Ξενοδοχειακού Ινστιτούτου. Στις Δυνάμεις Ασφαλείας περιλαμβάνονται: η Αστυνομία, η Πυροσβεστική Υπηρεσία και η Εθνική Φρουρά. Στο Ωρομίσθιο Προσωπικό περιλαμβάνονται τακτικοί, έκτακτοι και εποχικοί υπάλληλοι.

Στα στοιχεία δεν περιλαμβάνονται τα Μέλη της Βουλής των Αντιπροσώπων (Βουλευτές και Εκπρόσωποι Θρησκευτικών Ομάδων).
